US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
More than seven months into the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, the regime continues to kill civilians across the besieged territory. The regime has carried out fresh attacks in the north, pushing deeper into the Jabalia refugee camp, killing several people there. In the central parts of the strip, over 60 Palestinians were killed in just 24 hours. Relentless Israeli bombings also claimed the lives of 18 people in the southern refugee-packed city of Rafah. That’s where Israeli forces are preparing for a large-scale ground aggression, despite international warnings. Over 35,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since last October when the US-Israeli genocide began. Most of those killed are women and children. Thousands of bodies also remain under the rubble.
Regional synergy
Iran’s foreign ministry says the Islamic Republic has taken steps to establish joint mechanisms with neighboring states in order to bolster multilateral cooperation. Spokesman Nasser Kan’ani made the announcement in his weekly briefing, this time held at Tehran’s International Book Fair. He said Iran stands ready to boost relations with all neighboring countries, especially the Persian Gulf littoral states. Kan'ani emphasized the crucial role of security in advancing regional development projects. He vowed Iran will decisively confront attempts aimed at disrupting peace and security in the region. Touching upon the issue of Palestine, Kan’ani reaffirmed Iran’s unflinching support, highlighting Tehran’s consistent advocacy through political, legal, and international channels. He stressed that the issue of Palestine is the most significant issue of the world today, adding that Tehran is making arrangements to run a virtual embassy of Palestine.
Pro-Palestine rallies
Pro-Palestine university protests and encampments gaining momentum worldwide, with the University of Amsterdam becoming the latest scene of student outcries against the Israeli genocide in Gaza. Hundreds of students and staff at the University of Amsterdam staged a walk-out to condemn Israeli crimes. Protesters held Palestinian flags and banners calling on the university to cut its ties with Israeli academic institutions. They also voiced outrage at police violence against students organizing the encampment last week. Riot police, however, was once again deployed to quell the peaceful protests. Also in Egypt, dozens of students at the American University in Cairo joined the global pro-Palestine movement. They held banners that called on the university to divest from corporations supporting Israel. Thousands of students from universities worldwide continue to hold demonstrations in support of the oppressed people of Palestine.
