'Implement MOU or face escalation'

Tehran has set a deadline of a few weeks for Washington to fully implement the Islamabad MOU or face escalation in the region and beyond. That, according to Reuters, citing a senior Iranian official. The official has said that Iran will opt for an offensive strategy in the Strait of Hormuz and beyond in case diplomacy with the United States fails. The announcement was made after Donald Trump claimed that Iran must raise "a white flag of surrender." Trump has also threatened to bomb Oman if the Persian Gulf state, in his words, "gets in the way" of US-Iran talks. The rhetoric follows Iran's foreign ministry announcement of Tehran and Muscat reaching an understanding on a navigation route which is yet to be finalized as a broader package. Esmail Baghaei has cited three factors complicating and slowing the process, namely the security situation in Hormuz, the number of actors involved, and attempts by hostile parties to undermine the negotiations.

Yemen attacks more KSA ships

Yemeni Armed Forces say they have targeted a Saudi military amphibious ship and four accompanying military boats in the Red Sea. Military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the attack was carried out off the coast of the city of Mokha using several ballistic missiles, which he said struck the targets accurately. Saree said the amphibious ship caught fire completely and several of the accompanying boats sank and others caught fire. He added that Yemeni forces are closely monitoring Saudi troop movements and gatherings, both on land and at sea, and will continue targeting them. The military official stressed Yemen will also continue to enforce the “siege for siege” equation and target Saudi troop concentrations wherever they are.

West bank village siege

The Israeli regime continues with its crimes against the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. An Israeli siege of the Palestinian town of Qusra has entered its ninth day, with the Israeli army declaring the area a closed military zone, blocking activists from reaching the residents. The trapped families complain about limited access to food and other essential supplies. Meanwhile, Israeli forces have abducted nine members of a Palestinian family trapped in their home following an Israeli settler attack on the outskirts of Beit Imrin village, in northwest Nablus. The occupied Al-Quds Governorate has also warned that dozens of homes in the town of Qalandia are at risk of demolition amid Israeli occupation plans and measures targeting the area for settlement projects and additional land grab.
