Tehran-Moscow talks
Russian President Vladimir Putin has received Iran's security chief, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, at the Kremlin, amid high tensions in the West Asia region.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced that Mohsen Rezaei delivered the Leader of the Islamic Revolution's message to the Russian President. The visit is the latest high-level contact between Moscow and Tehran. The talks come as Washington escalates its threats against Iran, with President Trump repeatedly warning of further strikes and saying US bombers are operating from European bases. The meeting followed a phone call on Monday between Rezaei and Putin on regional and international developments, with a particular focus on West Asia.
Iran warning
A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared to deliver a decisive response to any hostile action.
The commander of the IRGC’s Ground Forces, Brigadier General Mohammad Karami, made the remarks during a visit to Persian Gulf Islands and military units stationed there. He said Iran stands firm against its adversaries and will not back down. The senior IRGC commander also expressed confidence that Iran and the Resistance Front will prevail. His remarks come amid renewed US threats of aggression against Iran. Iranian officials have warned that any attack would trigger an immediate and forceful response, with no geographical limits.
France anti-government protests
French police have clashed with protesters as hundreds of thousands took to the streets in a nationwide day of strikes and protests by unions, Yellow Vest activists, students and workers.
The mobilization came a day after lawmakers rejected the first section of the government's 2027 budget in a rare cross-party vote. Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry's budget has swelled from €22 billion in 2022 to over €34 billion, with police unions demanding €500 million more and backing a bill that would grant officers who open fire a presumption of legitimate defense, which critics call a permit to kill. France has experienced weeks of unrest due to student protests about overcrowded classrooms and teacher shortages, followed by trade unions protesting rising living costs and economic issues.
