Iranian president interview

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran did not start the war and has never sought war, but the country has to defend itself when it is attacked. Pezeshkian was speaking in an interview with The Fox News Channel following his address to the UN General Assembly session. He noted that Iran has never started a war, but if enemies intend to continue the aggression against the country, they will receive a firm response. Pezeshkian noted that Tehran reached an agreement with US President Donald Trump's administration before the war started, and it is still willing to move forward with it. Regarding Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz, Pezeshkian said the strategic waterway was open before the US-Israeli aggression against Iran, and it was only closed when they attacked Iran with no legal justification. He added that Trump kept saying “I want to give the Iranian people a gift," but the gift he gave the people was guided missiles, heavy weapons, and destruction. The Iranian president vowed the country will resist until the end, despite all the economic hardships it is facing.

Netanyahu UN address

The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has strongly condemned the Israeli prime minister’s remarks during his address to the UN General Assembly. The movement said Benjamin Netanyahu’s empty speech was filled with utter lies and pathetic slogans. Hamas said Netanyahu’s UN address exposed the depth of the crisis he is living through, stressing that his blatant lies no longer deceive the nations of the world or global public opinion. The movement added that what war criminal Netanyahu stated about the brutal war on Gaza and his denial of the systematic genocide there is refuted by UN reports and what the world witnessed directly. It noted that the Israeli prime minister’s claims completely contradict what independent UN committees and reports have documented, which confirm that the crimes committed in Gaza amount to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. Hamas said instead of allowing a war criminal to address the world and promote utter lies, Netanyahu must be in prison with other terrorist criminals to be tried before international and human justice.

Gaza economic collapse

The United Nations’ development agency warns that Gaza is suffering the world's worst economic crisis ever recorded, with nine in 10 businesses destroyed and hundreds of thousands of people unemployed. The UN Conference on Trade and Development said in its report that the collapse of Gaza's economy is the world's most severe economic crisis on record. It added that the war-torn territory’s economic collapse has wiped out decades of development and generated an acute crisis for its people. According to UNCTAD, 92 percent of Gaza's economic establishment has been damaged or destroyed during Israel’s genocidal war. It added that the territory's daily per capita GDP now stands at about zero-point-six dollars a day, while prices are 274 percent higher than in 2022. UNCTAD noted that industrial activity and agricultural production have fallen by 94 percent, forcing total dependence on humanitarian food aid. The report said the Israeli aggression has destroyed hundreds of thousands of jobs, leaving more than 90 percent of Gaza's working-age population unemployed.
