US has not been able to achieve anything militarily so far: Analyst
Academic and political analyst Matteo Capasso argues that Trump’s latest retreat to launch a major attack on Iran is not a diplomatic pause but a sign of deep US military and political weakness.
He says Washington has failed to achieve any of its objectives since February 2026, repeatedly shifting its goals while confronting a severe depletion of munitions and an inability to protect Israel.
According to him, US threats have become “bombastic” performances disconnected from material reality, exposing a long‑running crisis in America’s power projection across West Asia.
Capasso says Arab monarchies in the Persian Gulf remain politically dependent on Washington, unable to form independent strategies, and risk making critical mistakes as the regional order shifts. He argues that sovereignty “cannot be subcontracted,” and that the United States is pressuring allies to act as servants in a war it is determined to lead despite lacking the capacity to sustain it.
