US MoU violations

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman says by violating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding with Iran, the US has betrayed diplomacy for the third time in a single year. Esmaeil Baqaei made the comment in an interview with the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation. He said the memorandum was not a complicated document and the entire world expected the US to abide by its commitments at least this time. Baqaei said US attack on Iran after President Donald Trump singed the memorandum was a clear and blatant violation of the agreement. He added that Iran has fulfilled all its commitments to ensure safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the US is directly responsible for the current situation in the strategic waterway. Baqaei said Americans are sending messages, but under present conditions, Iran gives priority to defending its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and people in the face of war crimes committed by the US. He asserted that Iran is not afraid of negotiations, but will never accept to engage in talks that are aimed at imposing the opposite sides’ diktats.

US aggression against Iran

A new poll conducted by US media reveals that most Americans want the war on Iran to end now, including 83 percent of young people. The results showed that on the whole, 78 percent of Americans want the war with Iran to end. The poll, which was conducted by CBS News, said after months of war with Iran, most Americans choose words like "uncertain" and "frustrated" as the top ways to describe their personal feelings about it. A majority of respondents were concerned over the lack of clarity about what's happening day to day in the Strait of Hormuz, while having doubts about the goals that the US seeks to achieve through the war with Iran. Most respondents expected the war to take months or even years, with a large majority saying the aggression against Iran has been harder than the Trump administration anticipated. The poll also revealed that President Donald Trump's approval rating remains at rock bottom, with only 35 percent approving of his handling of the Iran war.

Korean Peninsula tensions

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has blasted the Association of Southeast Asian Nations for seeking to denuclearize the Korean peninsula. The sister of the DPRK’s leader, Kim Jong-un, harshly criticized ASEAN’s position as "stupid and foolish." Her remarks came after ASEAN expressed "grave concern" over Pyongyang's nuclear program, stressing the importance of dialogue "to realize lasting peace and stability in a denuclearized Korean Peninsula." In reaction, the DPRK leader’s sister issued a statement, decrying what she called ASEAN’s undisguised hostile attitude. Kim Yo Jong added that ASEAN is going along with the US by trumpeting about 'denuclearization' and ignoring Pyongyang’s constitution. She said ASEAN should guard against "being misused as a hired mouthpiece for the US. Kim stressed that the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula has already lost its meaning, and adhering to it is a failure in strategic thinking and logic, and a manifestation of a stupid and foolish wild dream.
