Obituary: Salah al-Bardawil, Hamas senior official killed in Khan Yunis
Salah al-Bardawil was a top political figure in Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. Israel killed him in Khan Yunis.
The senior member of the Hamas Political Bureau was killed by an Israeli drone on Saturday.
He was martyred while reciting night prayer in the early hours of the 23rd of the holy month of Ramadan.
His wife was at his side when they were killed.
Following is the Hamas statement on his martyrdom.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
“And do not think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.”
The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas commends to Allah the martyrdom of its leader and fighter: Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil.

Member of the Political Bureau of the Movement and Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, who ascended as a martyr in a treacherous Zionist assassination while performing Qiyam al-Layl (night prayer) on the night of the 23rd of the blessed month of Ramadan, in his tent in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis, alongside his virtuous wife, during a treacherous Israeli strike targeting western Khan Yunis — part of a series of barbaric massacres committed by the enemy against our steadfast and patient people in the Gaza Strip.
The martyred Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil was a prominent figure in political, media, and national work, a symbol of truthfulness, steadfastness, and sacrifice.
He never shied away from duty, a position, or a battlefield in the service of the cause. He remained firm on the path of resistance until he attained the honor of martyrdom on one of the most beloved nights to Allah.
As we bid farewell to this great leader, we affirm that his blood — along with that of his wife and all the noble martyrs — will remain fuel for the battle of liberation and return. This criminal enemy will never break our resolve or undermine our steadfastness. With every martyr that ascends, the flame of resistance burns stronger until the occupation is gone.
May Allah have mercy on our martyred leader Dr. Salah al-Bardawil and his wife, grant them the highest ranks in Paradise, and bestow beautiful patience and solace upon their family, loved ones, and our steadfast, patient people.
"Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return."
