The Gaza Strip’s Government Media Office says more than 40 Palestinians, including many women and children, have been killed during Israeli attacks on hundreds of residential buildings in the northern part of the coastal sliver.
The fatalities have occurred over the space of just 48 hours, the office reported in a statement on Saturday.
The Israeli military has bombed and destroyed 254 residential structures at the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in northern Gaza throughout the period, deploying internationally banned ammunition from warplanes and tanks, it noted.
“Explosive barrels were planted among citizens’ homes and detonated remotely,” the statement said.
“The occupation also used missiles with immense destructive power against homes,” the office said, noting that the projectiles, which were “mostly covered with asbestos and zinc sheets,” reduced the targets “to rubble in an unimaginable humanitarian disaster.”
“We condemn the Israeli occupation's intentional and systematic crimes against humanity, targeting civilians, children, and women in acts of mass murder and genocide.”
The office further denounced the regime’s allies, including the United States, the UK, Germany, and France, as countries that were “complicit in the ongoing genocide,” holding them fully responsible for the continuation of the regime’s atrocities.
The most recent victims of the aggression are among the 43,300-plus Palestinians, who have been killed as a result of the regime’s October 2023-present genocidal war on entire Gaza. Women and children comprise the majority of the victims.
“We demand that the international community and all international organizations exert maximum pressure on the Israeli occupation to stop its crimes against humanity and end the genocidal war against defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip,” the statement concluded.
