Hezbollah retaliatory strikes
The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has fired a barrage of rockets toward Israeli positions in the northern occupied territories including the port city of Haifa. According to the Israeli military, some 30 rockets were launched from Lebanon, with two of them being intercepted over the Haifa area. Hezbollah, for its part, says its rockets targeted two gatherings of Israeli soldiers in settlements located in the northern occupied territories. It said the operations were carried out in support of Palestinians in Gaza and the Lebanese people as well as in response to barbaric Israeli attacks on Lebanon. Hezbollah also said that its resistance fighters fired a guided missile at an Israeli bulldozer trying to pave the way for infiltration of the regime’s tanks and soldiers into southern Lebanon.
Iran standing with Lebanon
Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf says the Iranian nation supports the people of Lebanon in all fronts in the face of intensified Israeli aggression against the Arab country. Qalibaf made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri. He said Tehran is ready to provide all the necessary assistance to the people and government of Lebanon. Qalibaf noted that he will echo the message of the oppressed Lebanese people to a Geneva summit of world parliament speakers he is attending later this week. The Iranian official earlier met with other Lebanese officials including caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati. He also visited the site of the deadliest Israeli airstrike in Beirut. Qalibaf is the second high-ranking Iranian official after Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to visit Beirut amid heightened Israeli air and ground invasion of Lebanon.
Severing ties with ‘genocidal’ Israel
Nicaragua has severed diplomatic ties with Israel over the regime’s genocidal war on Gaza. The move was ordered by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega. Managua has also called the Israeli cabinet fascist and genocidal. There has been a separate pro-Palestinian remark from another country in the Americas. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said the Palestinian state must be recognized in all its magnitude. Since the start of the war on Gaza, many Latin American countries have criticized Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians. Colombia is one of those states that cut diplomatic ties with Israel back in May.
