Genocide in Gaza

Israel has bombed two schools in Gaza during its latest attacks on the besieged Palestinian territory, killing at least 15 people. Rescuers say they face difficulty rescuing the survivors trapped under the rubble due to a lack of tools. Israel bombed the two schools located in Gaza City on Thursday. At least 30 Palestinians were injured as well. Schools and hospitals, where displaced Gazans take shelter, have been among prime targets of Israeli attacks since the start of the war in early October. So far, nearly 39,700 people have been killed in Gaza. More than 91,700 others have been wounded too.

Gaza ceasefire talks

The US, Qatar and Egypt have called on Israel and Hamas to resume negotiations to hammer out a Gaza ceasefire deal. The three countries have been trying to mediate a deal for several months now. They say the new talks could take place in Doha or Cairo on August 15th. The trio have called on Israel and Hamas to join the talks with no excuse for further delay. The US, Qatar and Egypt say a framework agreement is now on the table, with only details of implementation left to conclude. Israel says it will take part in the negotiations, while it continues attacks in Gaza. Palestinian resistance movement Hamas is yet to comment. Hamas has previously blamed Tel Aviv for the failure to reach a deal to release Israeli captives in return for an end to the Gaza war.

Support for Palestine

Yemeni protesters have poured onto the streets of the northern city of Sa’ada in yet another rally in support of war-ravaged Gaza. The demonstration was one of the biggest by the Yemenis in the past months. They have been holding rallies in Sa’ada and the capital Sana’a on Fridays since the Gaza war broke out in early October. The Yemeni protesters denounce Israel and its main supporter, the US, for the genocide in Gaza. They also hailed the Yemeni army for its military operations targeting Israel-linked vessels on the high seas. Those operations have been ongoing since mid-November to force Israel to end its war on Gaza. Yemen says it will continue to back Palestinians until the war comes to an end.
