US-Israeli Gaza genocide

Israel presses ahead with its onslaught on Gaza, killing more Palestinians across the besieged territory. Regime’s forces killed 40 Palestinians and injured 71 others in a 24-hour period. The latest airstrikes targeted a vehicle, killing five Palestinian policemen in Gaza City. Four Palestinians were killed in another strike in the city. Eight Palestinians were also killed when their jeep was targeted near Deir al-Balah while they were providing aid. Israel has ordered evacuations in nine neighborhoods of the southern city of Khan Yunis, signaling further ground assaults there. The ongoing Gaza genocide has led to a staggering death toll of more than 39,600, with over 91,400 injured.

Palestinian prisoners plight

United Nations experts warn of escalating use of torture by Israel against Palestinian prisoners, denouncing the absolute impunity that the regime currently enjoys. The experts said they have received substantiated reports of widespread abuse, torture, sexual assault and rape, amid atrocious inhumane conditions in Israeli prisons. The report said Palestinian prisoners were locked in cages, tied to beds, deprived of adequate health care, and were subjected to electrocution, blackmail and cigarette burns. The experts described Israeli torture practices as preventable crime against humanity and slammed the silence of UN member states over Israel’s maltreatment of prisoners. They also called for international presence of human rights observers to reflect the Israeli inhumane crime. The UN says at least 53 Palestinians have died of torture in Israeli prisons in the past 10 months.

Iraq rocket attack

Several US personnel have been injured in an attack on the Ain al-Asad military base in Iraq. An Iraqi military source said rockets were launched at the site in the western Anbar Province. Three explosions were reportedly heard in the base. A spokesperson for US forces confirmed the attack, adding that a number of American personnel have been injured. The attack comes after four Iraqi resistance fighters were killed in a US airstrike. Tensions have been running high in the West Asia region in the wake of the Israeli genocide in Gaza. Iraqi resistance fighters have launched several attacks on US facilities in their country and neighboring Syria. They say the attacks are in response to US complicity in the genocide.
