Israel’s assassination of Hamas leader

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has released a new statement following the martyrdom of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyah in Tehran. The IRGC said the assassination was designed and carried out by Israel and supported by the US government. It said the attack was carried out by firing a short-range projectile launched from outside of his accommodation. It said the projectile had a warhead of about seven kilograms and caused a strong explosion. The IRGC also pledged a severe response to Israel over the assassination. Ismail Haniyeh was martyred early on Wednesday at his residence in the Iranian capital. He was in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran's new president Masoud Pezeshkian.

Chaos at Israeli airports

Airlines around the world are canceling their flights to Israeli airports amid fears of potential retaliation against the regime’s assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Iranian soil. Several major airlines have so far suspended or delayed their services to Israel. They include America’s United and Delta Airlines, Germany’s Lufthansa, Greece’s Aegean, Italy’s ITA, the Netherlands’ KLM and Hungarian Wizz Air. There were chaotic scenes at Israel's main airport Ben Gurion as passengers were waiting for flights to leave, with some being stuck there for long hours. Following the assassination of Haniyeh on Wednesday in Tehran, Iranian officials threatened Israel with a firm and severe response.

US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

More than 300 days have passed since Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza which continues unabated, causing more death and destruction across the besieged Palestinian territory. In one of the latest strikes, at least 10 people were killed in an Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. Five Palestinians also were killed in a bombing of a home in the city of Khan Yunis. The attack also left several people injured. Israeli air and artillery strikes have claimed the lives of nearly 40,000 civilians since October. Relentless Israeli attacks have also brought much of Gaza’s vital infrastructure to a breaking point.
