US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

\Beginning in Gaza, where some 60 Palestinians have been killed in the latest day of Israeli air and artillery attacks. At least 3 people were killed in an Israeli attack on an apartment in the northern Gaza City. The victims included a woman and an infant. The regime’s military also bombed a school sheltering displaced people in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City. And in the southern city of Rafah, a number of people were wounded and several homes destroyed in Israeli air raids. Most recently, 70 bodies were recovered from the northern Jabalia refugee camp after the withdrawal of Israeli forces. The US-Israeli genocide in Gaza since October 7 has claimed the lives of nearly 36,500 people.

ICJ Israel case

Chile says it’s joining a genocide case filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice.  The Chilean president slammed Israel for using what he called indiscriminate and disproportionate force against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Gabriel Boric said he was appalled by the humanitarian devastation in the Palestinian territory. He stressed that the regime’s acts demand a firm and permanent response from the international community. Last year, South Africa filed a genocide lawsuit against Israel at the court. The UN's top court has already issued two major emergency rulings, ordering Israel to avoid any act of genocide in Gaza and immediately halt its military offensive in the southern city of Rafah. Several countries, including Mexico, Brazil and Indonesia, have already rallied behind the petition.

Iran presidential election

More candidates have registered for Iran’s 14th presidential election. They hope to succeed late president Ebrahim Raeisi, who recently lost his life in a helicopter crash. On the fourth day of the registration process, former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad put his name down for the June 28 election. Current Culture Minister Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili and former lawmaker Mahmoud Sadeqi were among the other high-profile figures to file their nominations. Former parliament speaker Ali Larijani and former nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili have also thrown their name in the hat. The registration process opened on Thursday and closes on Monday. The final list of candidates will be announced on June 11 after vetting by the Guardian Council.
