US Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan has slammed President Joe Biden for supporting the continued Israeli genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
In a video posted on Friday on X, Tlaib, who hails from the same party as Biden, warned him that Americans will remember when he’s up for reelection next year.
“Mr. President, the American people are not with you on this one,” she said in the video. “We will remember in 2024.”
After she speaks, the screen goes dark and a message appears in white lettering stating: “Joe Biden supported the genocide of the Palestinian people. The American people won’t forget. Biden, support a cease-fire now. Or don’t count on us in 2024.”
Since last month, the Apartheid Zionist Israeli regime has launched a relentless onslaught against the Palestinians trapped in besieged Gaza, killing some 9,500 Palestinians, including nearly 3,900 children and 2,500 women.
Tlaib, who is the only Palestinian-American on Capitol Hill, has been at the forefront of a group of lawmakers rebuking Biden for supporting the Apartheid Zionist regime's relentless onslaught of Palestinians since the Hamas resistance group launched operations Al-Aqsa Storm on Oct. 7 in response to the Israelis' decades-long atrocities in the occupied lands.
The Palestinian-American lawmaker, who is a longtime advocate for Palestinian rights, has been the most outspoken critic of Israel in Congress since her election in 2018.
“I grieve the Palestinian and Israeli lives lost yesterday, today, and every day. I am determined as ever to fight for a just future where everyone can live in peace, without fear and with true freedom, equal rights, and human dignity,” she said in part, adding, “The path to that future must include lifting the blockade, ending the occupation, and dismantling the apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance. The failure to recognize the violent reality of living under siege, occupation, and apartheid makes no one safer.”
Tlaib recently faced a resolution by pro-Israeli lawmakers in the US Congress aimed to censure her over comments critical of the Israeli regime and in support of Palestinians. However, the House ultimately tabled the resolution.
Tlaib condemned the move targeted against her, saying the resolution had been counterproductive.
The resolution is "deeply Islamophobic and attacks peaceful Jewish anti-war advocates. I am proud to stand in solidarity with Jewish peace advocates calling for a ceasefire and an end to the violence. I will not be bullied, I will not be dehumanized, and I will not be silenced. I will continue to call for ceasefire, for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid, for the release of hostages and those arbitrarily detained, and for every American to be brought home,” she noted.
In the meantime, Biden has refused to push the Israelis for a ceasefire, and in the past month, no one in his administration has even criticized the Israeli regime over the brutal mass killing of the Palestinians.
This is despite the numerous calls for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza by the international community led by the United Nations.
Tlaib's remarks come on the heels of the Israeli regime’s genocide of the people in the besieged Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip, where water, food, medicine, and electricity have been cut off by the Zionist entity.
