Clad in the festivity, tens of thousands of people flocked to mosques, shrines, and other holy places to perform Eid prayers.

Religious scholars attending the event, said after a month of fasting, Eid is a time of collective and individual reflection and introspection and also to express gratitude to the Almighty Allah for his favors. They also prayed for peace, stability, unity, and solidarity for Muslims around the world.

The largest congregational prayers in this part of the world were held at the iconic Hazratbal Shrine on the banks of Dal Lake.

After the prayers, people paid visits to each other’s homes and exchanged greetings. Special dishes and desserts were also prepared by almost every household to share with friends and relatives.
