Nasrallah decisive figure in regional equations with global dimensions: Iran’s IRGC chief

Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Major General Hossein Salami addresses a ceremony in the Iranian capital Tehran on February 23, 2025 to pay tribute to Hezbollah leaders.

The chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the martyred Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had attained a “determining” personality in regional equations with global dimensions.

“The reason for this was that he acted on what he believed in and had faith in,” Major General Hossein Salami said on Sunday.

He made the remark in a ceremony in the Iranian capital Tehran to pay tribute to Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the late leader of the Hezbollah resistance movement, and his deputy and appointed successor Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, as well as other leaders of the resistance.

He said Nasrallah showed the path of resistance to young Muslims and was the most outstanding personality in the Arab world as even his enemies praised and admired him.

He added that Zionist officials and Western theoreticians consider him an influential speaker and an amazing personality who was never afraid of death.

Whenever the late Hezbollah chief spoke, the echoes of his speech reached US officials in the White House, Salami emphasized.

The IRGC chief noted that the equations that Nasrallah created on the battlefield, went beyond the scene in Lebanon, saying, “He fulfilled any promise he made.”

He added that Zionist settlers had more belief and faith in the promises of Nasrallah than they had in those of their own officials.

“Nasrallah was a model of steadfastness, perseverance, patience, and resilience for the whole world,” Salami pointed out.

“In Lebanon, where heavily armed enemies had disarmed the country, he stood against a coalition of the US, the strongest military power in the world, Zionism, and their Western and regional allies, overcoming them and never being defeated,” he said.

The IRGC chief noted that Nasrallah had created an “invincible power” that penetrated hearts, saying he was able to cause anxiety and insecurity among the Zionists at any moment, preventing them from achieving peace in the occupied territory.

Nasrallah was the sum of a number of characteristics and features that he had inherited from distinguished people of faith and piety, he added.

Using US-supplied bunker-busting bombs, Israel assassinated Nasrallah, the longtime leader of Hezbollah, in an airstrike on southern Beirut in September 2024.

The following month, the criminal regime assassinated Safieddine, the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, in a similar attack.

Hezbollah postponed funeral ceremonies for both leaders due to fears of Israeli attacks on the ceremony.

On Sunday, massive crowds from various regions of Lebanon and around the world converged in Beirut to attend the historic funeral procession for the martyred Hezbollah leader and former head of its Executive Council.

In a message that was read out during the funeral ceremonies of the two Hezbollah martyrs, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warned the enemy that the enduring resistance against oppression and arrogance will continue until it achieves its ultimate objective.
