The Israeli president, Reuven Rivlin, has tasked opposition figure Yair Lapid who heads the Yesh Atid Party to form a ruling coalition. This came after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to form a new cabinet. Experts say reaching a final deal will not be easy, requiring agreements from some seven parties with vastly different agendas as well as support from one of two Arab parties in the parliament.
