Iran Leader remarks

Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has ruled out the possibility of a foreign war against the nation. Ayatollah Khamenei said political calculations show there will be no war. The Leader however demanded Iranian armed forces maintain their vigilance and boost their capabilities. Ayatollah Khamenei was speaking at a meeting with a group of air defense commanders of the Iranian army. He described air defense as a key part of Iran’s armed forces, saying it is at the forefront of confronting the enemies.

Somalia bombing

A car bombing kills at least six people in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu. Two children are among the dead. Several people also suffered injuries after the explosive-laden vehicle blew up near a government building. Security forces immediately arrived at the scene of the blast and cordoned off the area. Eyewitnesses say they had to hide themselves as the bombing was followed by a heavy gunfight.

No dollar in trade

The Turkish President promises to pursue non-dollar transactions in trade with other countries, in response to the US sanctions against Ankara. Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Washington behaves like wild wolves. Erdogan said Turkey is in negotiations with Russia over non-dollar trade, saying the US dollar only damages Turkey’s economy. Turkey’s grappling with economic troubles as a result of a trade war with Washington. The two countries are at loggerheads over the fate of an American pastor, jailed in Turkey. The US took a series of measures against Ankara that resulted in the Turkish Lira’s decline to an all-time low against the dollar. Turkey slammed the move, saying Washington risks losing a strategic NATO ally because of one man.

Eastern Ukraine funeral

People in the Ukrainian city of Donetsk bid farewell to the pro-Russia forces’ leader, who was killed in a bomb blast Friday. Mourners gathered in the streets paying their respects by throwing flowers at the casket of Alexander Zakharchenko. They honored Zakharchenko by calling him a hero. The mourners also pledged to continue supporting the cause he was fighting for.
