Yemen resumes Israel ban

The Yemeni army says it has resumed maritime sanctions imposed on all vessels bound for Israel over the regime’s blockade of humanitarian aid entry to the Gaza Strip. Saree warned that any Israeli vessel attempting to violate the ban will be targeted within the declared zone of operations. Saree added that the ban will remain in place until Gaza’s crossings, which have been closed by Israel, are reopened to allow the entry of aid, including food and medicine. Saree also reaffirmed Yemen’s support for the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. The move followed the expiration of a four-day ultimatum given by Yemen to Israel to lift its ban on humanitarian aid delivery to the people of Gaza.

Gaza ceasefire talks

A senior Hamas official says a fresh round of Gaza ceasefire talks has started in the Qatari capital, Doha. Abdel Rahman Shadid said the movement approaches the new round of negotiations positively and responsibly. Shadid expressed hope that the fresh round of talks would lead to tangible progress toward beginning of the second phase of Gaza truce. He said the US administration must fulfill its responsibility for facilitating the second-phase talks due to its unwavering support for Israel. Shadid called on the mediators to pressure Israel to abide by the ceasefire terms and open Gaza crossings to allow aid enter the besieged territory. The Hamas official also slammed the regime’s criminal policies throughout the occupied Palestinian territories. Shadid said Israel continues to kill, displace, and abduct Palestinians. He stressed that the regime commits the most heinous forms of brutal torture against Palestinians, while closing Gaza’s crossings, blocking aid entry, and cutting off the territory’s electricity for the tenth consecutive day.

US pro-Palestine protests

Pro-Palestine demonstrators have rallied in several US cities to protest the arrest of a Palestinian graduate of the Columbia University who was arrested for leading anti-Israel demonstrations. The protesters included students and faculty members from New York University and The City University of New York. A similar protest was held in Los Angeles. Dozens of people gathered at the University of California Los Angeles, calling for the immediate release of the Palestinian activist. Mahmoud Khalil was arrested on Saturday by US Department of Homeland Security. Khalil played a key role in leading the pro-Palestine campus protest movement, which called for a ceasefire in Gaza. His arrest represents a significant escalation in the Trump administration’s commitment to detain and deport student activists demanding an end to the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza.
