Trump offers to sing Canadian anthem after critical remarks emerge

US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump stood by comments he made off the record in which he criticized Canada during an event named 'Securing Americans' Retirement' in Charlotte, NC, on Friday.

"I gave an interview yesterday to Bloomberg Business and I said off the record and I made a statement about Canada, which is fine. Because I love Canada. But they've taken advantage of our country for many years," he said.

Trump went on to say that the publication of the off-the-record comments was by 'dishonorable people' but 'at least Canada knows how I feel.'

"I even love their national anthem, it's called, very appropriately, 'O Canada.' Would you like me to sing it? But they have taken advantage of us," he continued.

Trump ended the event by signing an executive order 'to extend the incredible benefits of retirement savings accounts.'
