Iran claims 6 medals at 2017 IFMA Youth World Championships

Iranian Muaythai boxers have put on satisfactory performances at the 2017 edition of International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) Youth World Championship in Thailand, and managed to take home six medals.

On Thursday and the final day of the competitions at the National Stadium of Thailand in the Pathum Wan district of Bangkok, Sajjad Sattari, Mohammad Reza Chabok and Saeed Ekwampour overpowered their opponents and clinched three gold medals.

Earlier in the tournament, Amir Hossein Zolfi, Hossein Abdi and Hassan Mahmoudzadeh had received three bronze medals.

Muaythai is a combat sport of Thailand, which uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques.

It includes combat on shins and is known as “the art of eight limbs.”

Muaythai is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins, being associated with a good physical preparation that makes a full-contact fighter very efficient.
