Iranian archer Nemati picked second best in Rio 2016 Paralympics

The World Archery Federation has named Iranian female Paralympic archer Zahra Nemati the second-best performer in the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

According to a survey conducted by the governing body of the sport of archery, 31-year-old Nemati well managed to defend her women’s individual recurve title from the 2012 London Paralympics with a dramatic 6-4 (24-27-28-27, 22-26, 30-26 and 28-26) win over her Chinese opponent Wu Chunyan in a match in Rio on September 15 last year.

Earlier on September 12, 2016, Nemati took a silver medal in the mixed team recurve open competitions as she and her 46-year-old male compatriot Ebrahim Ranjbarkivaj lost to the Chinese squad of Zhao Lixue and Wu Chunyan 3-5 in the title showdown.

The third ranking on the list of top Rio archers belongs to China’s Zhou Jiamin, who broke the world record for a 15 arrow match. She was awarded the top honor in the compound women’s open and the compound mixed team open competitions.

The archery competitions at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games started on September 10 and wrapped up on September 17.
