Iran's President, cabinet pay tribute to late Imam Khomeini

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet members have paid tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini at his mausoleum.

Rouhani and his team laid wreaths at the tomb of the founding father of the Islamic Republic. They also paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The visit comes ahead of ten-day celebrations, marking the 37th anniversary of the revolution that toppled the US-backed Pahlavi monarchy. The ceremonies, also known as the 10 Day Dawn, will start on February the first, marking the time when the late Imam Khomeini arrived back home from exile in 1979. Imam Khomeini spent more than 14 years in exile, mostly in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf. He also spent some time in Turkey and France, before his return to Iran.
