Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s remarks against US President Barack Obama’s foreign policy are “hypocritical” as the senior lawmaker has always been among his main supporters, says an American political analyst.
“Basically what you have right now in the American Congress, you have a number of Republicans who have voted basically on everything Obama has wanted to pass since he came into office back in 2009, Mitch McConnell was one of these men,” John Miranda said on Sunday.
“They are all elected Republicans, but they have voted for everything that Obama wants,” he added.
The political commentator made the remarks in reaction to Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell's comments, where he called Obama an extreme leftist whose “mind-boggling” foreign policy has resulted in unpopular relations with other nations.
The Kentucky Republican said that Obama’s foreign policy has resulted in “a genuine meltdown of American foreign policy across the board,” the Hill reported on Sunday.
“You name the country. Where are we in better shape now than we were when he came to office? Nowhere,” he said.
Miranda told Press TV that “McConnell has helped pass literally everything that Obama wanted done,” including funneling millions of dollars to train the so-called moderate rebels in Syria.
“It is very hypocritical that he is trying to say that Obama is the reason that the USA is not popular when he's backed 100 percent that Obama has done,” the analyst maintained.
