Danjuma Abdullahi is Press TV’s correspondent in Nigeria. He is based in the capital city of Abuja. Abdullahi files reports about current events in Nigeria, in addition to production of news documentaries. He also contributes to other Press TV productions such as InFocus, Reporters File, and live news programs. He has been focused on the 2015 Zaria massacre right from December 12, 2015 when Nigerian security operatives attacked the Shia worship center and prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Zakzaky’s house, killing about one thousand of his supporters, injuring hundreds, to the various protests demanding for his release and the court cases to enforce the rights of the Sheikh. The most challenging moments of the coverage in Nigeria was covering the crackdown on members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, as the crew tried to avoid the bullets and teargas canisters. It reached a climax when Abdullahi was arrested during the coverage and accused of being a participant in the protest.
Abdullahi worked at the Nigerian state television station for several years before joining Press TV in 2007. He worked as manager reportorial at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). He has produced many private documentaries and short advertisements for radio and television. He has also written radio and television scripts for other private producers.
Abdullahi has visited Japan, China, the UK, the West Asian region and the USA, where he graduated from the Georgia State University in Atlanta.
