The Nigerian government has described the commencement of vaccinating Nigerians as a historic moment in the fight against COVID-19.
The kick-off of the vaccination followed the delivery of about four million doses of the COVAX Astrazeneca vaccines to Nigeria on March 2.
Nigerian health officials said the delay in the start of the vaccination was to ensure that the vaccines were checked for safety.
The Nigerian government said Nigerians should support the planned and systematic roll-out of the vaccines and mobilize citizens for the vaccination.
