Syrian pres. accuses Turkish counterpart of backing ISIL
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has accused his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan of supporting Takfiri extremists.
Assad said the Turkish president is leading with a destructive policy that does not serve the interests of his people. The Syrian president made the comments in a meeting with a delegation of Turkish opposition figures in Damascus. Ankara has been facing criticism from both outside and inside Turkey over its support for militant groups fighting the Syrian government. The Turkish opposition has time and again said the ruling AK party is damaging Turkey's image in the international arena by backing militant groups in Syria.
