Russia says it thwarted a plot by Ukrainian intelligence agencies to carry out sabotage and terrorism on the South Stream gas pipeline that supplies Russia’s natural gas to the European continent.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said “British specialists” blew up the pipelines in a “terrorist attack.”

A preliminary report released by Danish police says "powerful explosions" caused the rupture of the gas pipeline.

“The act of sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 is an act of international terrorism aimed at undermining energy security of the entire continent.”

The Nord Stream pipelines that Russia and its former European partners spent billions of dollars building has been damaged.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused the West of seeking to sabotage negotiations between Russia and Ukraine by fueling "hysteria" over the alleged mass killing of civilians by Russian forces in the town of Bucha, warning that the peace process could collapse if such attempts continued.
