President Lukashenko says his country seeks to avoid any confrontation with neighboring Poland over the recent migrant crisis.

The Polish army says it has detained some 100 migrants who had illegally crossed into Poland from Belarus overnight, alleging that the Belarusian army had helped them make the intrusion.

Belarus says it intends to deploy Russian nuclear-capable Iskander missile systems in the south and west of the country.

Neighbors of Belarus say the current migrant crisis risks military confrontation in the region.

Belarus warns of a joint response with Russia to Ukraine’s joint military exercises with the US and NATO countries near its borders.

Belarus is set to purchase more than $1 billion worth of Russian weapons, which will be delivered in 2025.

US President Joe Biden has already signed an executive order that expands anti-Minsk sanctions which have been in place since 2006.

Asked about the measures, Lukashenko called British officials “America's lapdogs” and said London should choke on the sanctions.
