Dismissing Trump threats
Iran’s Parliament speaker has downplayed US President Donald Trump’s repeated threats of military action against Tehran, branding his erratic rhetoric as "theater diplomacy on loop." Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf took to social media to mock the predictable cycle of Trump's aggressive remarks followed by sudden calls for negotiation. He stated that the cycle of using bullying, broken promises, and fake news as leverage is a completely failed strategy. Ghalibaf urged Washington to stop such political theatrics. Iran's top parliamentarian emphasized that Tehran demands concrete action, stressing that the US must acknowledge the facts and fulfill its commitments rather than posing empty, repetitive threats.
Sana’a-Riyadh tensions
Reports say Yemeni armed forces have targeted positions of Saudi-backed troops in Yemen’s Marib and Hadramout provinces. A video circulating online shows plumes of smoke following the reported attack in Marib. There is no further detail, and the Yemeni armed forces have not issued a statement in this regard. Earlier, Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Yahya Saree said they had targeted areas including Al-Ruwaik, Al-Abr, Al-Thaniyah, and camps belonging to the so-called First and Third Emergency Brigades. Meanwhile, in an official statement, Yemen’s Foreign Ministry warned that Saudi Arabia’s continued colonial activities and interventions are pushing it toward a point of no return. The developments come amid escalating tensions after Saudi Arabia carried out an attack on Sana’a airport last month.
Thailand school shooting
A school shooting has shaken Thailand, leaving eight people dead and a number of others injured. The shooting took place at a school in Nonthaburi province, north of Bangkok. The shooter, who later took his own life, was a student of the same school. According to the police, the assailant first shot his grandparents dead, using his grandfather’s handgun, then went to his school where he killed three teachers and three students. This is not the first time the Asian country is witnessing a school shooting. In February, a teacher was killed and a student injured in a similar incident in southern parts of the country. Also in 2022, Thailand saw its deadliest mass shooting as 36 people, including two dozen children, lost their lives at a child care center in the northeast.
