US-Israel Gaza genocide

More Palestinian civilians fall victim to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, as the regime continues to pound the blockaded territory with air and artillery strikes. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 39 people were killed and scores more wounded in Israeli strikes over the past 24 hours. The new fatalities bring the death toll from Israel’s renewed aggression on Gaza to 830. The overall death toll from the regime’s genocide since October 2023 now stands at over 50,183. The UN’s humanitarian agency says 142,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced since Israel resumed its war on Gaza on March 18th.

'US weaponizing trade'

China has strongly condemned the US for adding dozens of Chinese entities to a trade blacklist, accusing Washington of weaponizing trade and technology to serve its hegemonic interests. China's foreign ministry spokesman, Guo Jiakun, criticized the US for what it called abusing sanctions to unfairly suppress Chinese enterprises. His remarks came after the US added dozens of Chinese entities to its export blacklist, aiming to curb Beijing’s advancements in artificial intelligence and advanced computing. In response, China has announced new countermeasures targeting individuals and entities involved in discriminatory actions against its citizens or companies.

Black sea deal

Russia says a number of conditions must be met before activating a maritime security deal in the Black Sea, negotiated with the United States. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the US-brokered agreement overlooked Moscow's needs, insisting that "justice must prevail" this time. A key demand from Russia includes reconnecting its state agricultural bank, to the SWIFT international payments system, which may require European consensus. The US recently reached separate agreements with both Ukraine and Russia to halt hostilities in the Black Sea and pause attacks on energy targets. The US-brokered agreement comes as an expansion to an initial limited ceasefire between the two warring sides on energy infrastructure. However, it falls short of a 30-day full ceasefire that had been proposed by Washington.
