Iran-Qatar relations

Iran and Qatar emphasize the importance of regional cooperation and solidarity amidst ongoing tensions in the region. The Iranian President and the Emir of Qatar made the remarks in a joint press conference in Tehran. Masoud Pezeshkian also emphasized the need for both nations to strengthen ties and enhance regional cooperation. He reaffirmed Iran's respect for Syrian sovereignty, stating that the future of Syria lies with its people. Regarding the Gaza crisis, he urged Muslim states to implement measures for supporting Palestinians, highlighting their right to a safe life in their homeland. The Emir of Qatar for his part echoed the importance of consultation among regional states constructive dialogue, covering trade and economic cooperation. He also stressed the necessity of a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches those affected by the conflict.

Hamas offer

Hamas offers to release all Israeli captives in a single swap during the second phase of Gaza truce deal. Taher al-Nunu, a Hamas media advisor said this move reflects the Palestinian resistance movement's commitment to resolving the issue and consolidating the ceasefire for long-term peace. He emphasized that in return, Hamas demands the release of all Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. Since the first phase of the truce began, Hamas has released 19 Israeli captives in exchange for over 1,100 Palestinian prisoners freed from Israeli jails. This comes after more than a year and a half of genocide, which has claimed 48,297 lives.

Russia-US relations

EU countries have agreed on a new round of sanctions against Russia, aiming to maintain pressure amid ongoing US-Russia talks over the war in Ukraine. The comprehensive package will be formally adopted on Monday, marking the third anniversary of Russia's military operation in Ukraine. The 16th round of EU sanctions targets Russia's aluminum sector. It aims to crack down on Russia’s so-called shadow fleet circumventing oil export restrictions by blacklisting 73 vessels. Additional measures include disconnecting 13 Russian banks from the SWIFT payment system and banning eight Russian media outlets from broadcasting in Europe. The sanctions come as US President Donald Trump engages with Moscow in efforts to end the war.
