Israeli forces kill Palestinian woman in southern Gaza in another ceasefire violation

A Palestinian woman was fatally shot by Israeli forces in the al-Jenena neighborhood, east of Rafah in southern Gaza as the occupying regime, boldened by its Western supporters, continues to violate the ceasefire with Hamas.

Local sources confirmed that Hanaa al-Ghouti was killed when Israeli troops opened live fire on civilians in the area, WAFA News Agency reported on Friday.

In addition to the shooting, Israeli military vehicles reportedly fired machine guns toward the east and northeast of the al-Bureij refugee camp and east of Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighborhood.

These shootings occurred despite the ceasefire agreement that took effect on January 19, 2025, following 15 months of Israeli genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Since October 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 48,319 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, with another 111,749 injured.

Many victims remain trapped under rubble, as rescue teams struggle to access affected areas, raising concerns that the death toll will continue to climb.

The mainstream Western media's lack of attention to the killing of Hanaa al-Ghouti and other civilians in Gaza stands in stark contrast to their extensive coverage in the past two days of Israeli captives who died during the regime's bombing campaign on the territory.

The regime has enjoyed the full political and military support of Western countries, led by the United States, during its war on Gaza.

Sporadic attacks by Israeli forces since the start of the truce across the Palestinian territory have undermined the pact.

Last week, three Palestinian police officers were killed during an Israeli drone attack in Rafah. Hamas slammed the attack as a "serious" violation of the ceasefire.

The ceasefire agreement includes a provision for Hamas to release three Israeli captives each Saturday, with 33 captives set to be freed during the initial 42-day phase in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian detainees.

Israel’s military onslaught, which began in October 2023, failed to achieve its stated objectives, including the release of captives, the dismantling of Gaza’s resistance, and the forced displacement of the enclave’s population into Egypt.
