Anti-Israel operation

At least three Israeli officers have been killed following a Palestinian anti-regime operation in the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil, also known as Hebron. The attack happened after Palestinians opened fire on a vehicle carrying Israeli troops. Israeli media say those who carried out the operation are on the loose. A large number of regime forces have stormed areas near the place where the incident happened to search for those behind the operation. The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has hailed the operation as a natural response to Israel’s 'heinous crimes' in Gaza and the West Bank. This is the latest in a series of Palestinian anti-regime operations across the occupied territories. Tensions have been on the rise between Israeli forces and Palestinian resistance fighters since the regime began its onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip last October. Around 700 Palestinians have so far been killed by Israeli troops since then.

US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The US-Israeli genocide in Gaza goes on unabated despite the regime’s agreement to pause its deadly attacks in several areas across the blockaded territory for a vaccination campaign. In one of the fresh strikes, the regime’s artillery killed several Palestinians as it shelled many areas, including the al-Bureij refugee camp and the Shujai’yya neighborhood. Israeli warplanes also carried out airstrikes on several areas in Gaza, killing and injuring several Palestinians. The attacks come as the polio vaccination campaign has been rolled out across Gaza after the coastal territory detected the first case of the disease in 25 years. Rights organizations are concerned that renewed attacks will hamper efforts for a full vaccination drive in Gaza. Israel’s relentless air, artillery, and drone strikes have so far claimed the lives of more than 40,000 people since October.

Russia-Ukraine war

Russia says it has repelled a massive Ukrainian drone attack against power and refinery plants in the country.  The Defense Ministry says its forces destroyed nearly 160 drones across 15 regions, including the capital Moscow. Debris from the downed drones ignited fires at the Moscow Oil Refinery and at a power station in the Tver region, which is one of the largest energy producers in central Russia. Residential areas in Russia’s Belgorod region were also targeted. The attack came days after Ukrainian drones struck fuel depots in southwest Russia's Rostov region and the northern Kirov region. The war between the two countries has escalated since Ukraine’s incursion into Russia's Kursk region on August 6th. Both sides have targeted energy infrastructure since Russia began its military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
