Foreign minister: Iran will give ‘decisive response’ to Israel’s terrorism

Iran’s acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani (R) and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty

Iran’s acting foreign minister says the Israeli regime is the real cause of instability in the West Asia region which is being helped by European countries’ silence over its terrorist actions.

Ali Bagheri Kani said the Islamic Republic of Iran will deal with the cause of insecurity and instability in the region with its own “decisive response.”

Bagheri Kani made these remarks in a telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg on Tuesday.

Bagheri Kani discussed with them the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, which took place in the Iranian capital Tehran on July 31.

Iran has blamed the Israeli regime for the assassination, with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warning of a "harsh response," and reaffirming the Islamic Republic's duty to avenge the blood of the resistance leader.

In his call with the Egyptian foreign minister, Bagheri discussed the consequences of the terrorist act of the Zionist regime and the prospect of holding an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Iran has called for an emergency meeting of the OIC and collective condemnation by the regional states of the Israeli regime’s assassination of Haniyeh.

The extraordinary OIC meeting at the “foreign ministers level” will be convened soon in Jeddah regarding the investigation of the crimes of the Israeli regime and the violation of the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Bagheri Kani denounced the approach of the United States and the European countries in not containing the terrorist acts of the regime.

“The Zionist regime is the real cause of instability in the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran will give a decisive response to the one which is causing insecurity and instability in the region,” he told the Egyptian foreign minister.

On his part, Abdelatty said that “Egypt has warned all European and American sides against the dangerous actions of the Zionist regime and is hopeful that tensions in the area would be reduced.”

In his call with the Austrian foreign minister, Bagheri Kani said: “Unfortunately, some European countries have remained silent in the face of the terrorist actions of the Zionist regime in violation of international law.”

“And this has led to the insolence of the criminal gang ruling in Tel Aviv that has increased tensions and insecurity in the region,” he added.

Schallenberg also expressed his concern over the deterioration of the situation in the West Asia region.

"Austria, while calling on all parties to exercise restraint, insists on the use of all diplomatic capabilities to reduce tensions," the Austrian top diplomat said.

Bagheri Kani further said that the “European side, by not condemning the clear terrorist aggression of the Zionist regime and preventing effective and restraining decisions of the UN Security Council against the Zionist regime, practically blocked all diplomatic channels,” to deal with Israel.

In a statement on Saturday, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said the assassination of the Hamas politburo chief was designed and executed by Israel, with support from the US administration.

The IRGC reported that the attack involved the use of a short-range projectile armed with a warhead weighing approximately seven kilograms, which subsequently caused a massive explosion.
