Iran has hailed a deal between Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement and the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) to ease financial tension and stop reciprocal measures.
In a statement on Thursday, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Nasser Kan’ani said that the Islamic Republic hopes that the warring sides in the long-running conflict would sign an agreement on sustainable peace as soon as possible.
Kan’ani said the resolution of regional crises through dialogue and negotiations is rooted in Tehran’s fundamental policies.
The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg announced the deal on Tuesday. It seeks to end the warring parties’ battle for control over the country’s financial institutions and resume national carrier Yemenia Airways’ flights between Sana’a and Jordan with an increase to three daily flights. Additionally, daily flights to Cairo and India, or as needed, will be operated.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers any agreement that eases economic pressures and removes the air, sea, and land blockade of Yemen to be in the interest of the Yemeni nation, and to bring stability and stability in the country,” Kan’ani emphasized.
The top Iranian diplomat stated that the resolution of regional conflicts through dialogue is rooted in the fundamental policies of the Islamic Republic, expressing hope that Ansarullah and the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) would clinch an agreement on lasting peace in Yemen as quickly as possible.
