A tale of two cities: West condemns Kiev hospital blast as Israel bombs Gaza kids to smithereens

The US and Canada have denounced a strike on a children's hospital in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, while looking the other way as Israel presses ahead with it genocidal war on Gaza, massacring children and women.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned as “abhorrent” an alleged Russian strike on the children's hospital in Kiev, saying such an attack has no justification.

“This is abhorrent. Striking a children’s hospital — and the innocent children inside — cannot be justified. My heart goes out to the families who are grieving — and Canada’s commitment to Ukraine remains as strong as ever,” Trudeau said in a post on X on Tuesday.

The United States also denounced as “savage” the strike on the hospital, accusing Russia of deliberately carrying out the attack.

"Russia unleashed another savage missile attack on civilians," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.

On Monday, Ukrainian authorities claimed Russia had struck the main children's hospital in Kiev with a missile and rained missiles on other cities across Ukraine, killing at least 41 civilians.

In response, the Kremlin says that Ukrainian anti-missile fire, not Russian ones, had hit the hospital, stressing that Moscow “does not conduct strikes on civilian targets.”

The latest condemnations come as Israel continues to target medical facilities and civilian infrastructure across the Gaza Strip amid its ongoing brutal war, while the West remains silent to the occupying regime’s crimes in the besieged territory.

Bodies of children taken to Gaza hospital following Israeli strike

On Tuesday, Israeli airstrikes in the central Gaza city of Dayr al-Balah and nearby refugee camps left at least 14 people dead, including four children and a woman.

The bodies of the children were taken to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital following the bombardment of the city, while several others were treated for injuries at the hospital.

An airstrike also hit a police station in an outdoor market in the Nuseirat refugee camp, killing four people and wounding two dozen, half of them women and children.

Casualties arrive at Gaza hospital after Israeli strike

Meanwhile, a video has surfaced showing a number of casualties being brought to the Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Dayr al-Balah after an Israeli strike hit a house in central Gaza on Tuesday.

The Gaza Health Ministry said three Palestinians were killed and several others wounded in the strike.

According to the residents, several people have gone missing with many believed to be still trapped under the rubble.

Israeli strikes also targeted different parts of Gaza on Tuesday, killing more than 40 Palestinians.

Israel unleashed a genocidal war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out a historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

So far, the Tel Aviv regime has killed more than 38,240 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured over 88,240 others.

Most of Gaza’s 2.3 million people have fled their homes, with many displaced multiple times.

Gaza children dying in Israeli 'targeted starvation campaign'

In a statement on Tuesday, ten independent United Nations experts said Israel is carrying out a "targeted starvation campaign" that has resulted in the deaths of children in Gaza.

"We declare that Israel's intentional and targeted starvation campaign against the Palestinian people is a form of genocidal violence and has resulted in famine across all of Gaza," they said.

The experts, including UN special rapporteur on the Right to Food, Michael Fakhri, further insisted that there are famine conditions in Gaza, saying at least 34 Palestinians have died from malnutrition since early October last year, the majority being children.

The UN experts also listed three children who had recently died "from malnutrition" after a number of others were said to have starved to death in northern Gaza earlier this year, stressing that with the death of these children, there is no doubt that famine has spread from the northern Gaza into central and southern parts.

The experts further denounced the international community’s inaction in the face of this disaster, saying, "The whole world should have intervened earlier to stop Israel's genocidal starvation campaign and prevented these deaths… Inaction is complicity."
