Genocide in Gaza

More than eight months into the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza strip, the regime continues with its air and artillery strikes on the blockaded territory. In one of the latest attacks targeting the al-Bureij and al-Nusierat refugee camps in central Gaza, the regime’s warplanes killed at least 17 people and injured several others. In southern Gaza, two Palestinians were killed and a number of others injured following Israeli airstrikes targeting the town of al-Qarara, north of Khan Yunis. The death toll from the Israeli onslaught on Gaza which began in early October has surpassed 37,340. This is while officials in Gaza are sounding the alarm over the deteriorating humanitarian situation across the territory. Gaza Information Office has described the situation in the north as tragic amid shortages of food and medicine. It says 98% of children in Gaza do not have access to safe drinking water.

Gaza humanitarian crisis

The UN humanitarian chief has described the situation in Gaza as a "hell on earth" amid the ongoing US-Israeli genocide there. Martin Griffiths says Palestinians are on the verge of famine and delivering humanitarian aid to them is almost impossible. Griffiths slammed the US and other countries for continuing to supply Israel with weapons, despite, what he described, as the onslaught’s appalling impact on civilians. The UN’s top aid official also warned that the number of humanitarian workers and UN staff killed in the besieged strip is alarming. Meanwhile, the head of the UN Palestinian refugee agency warned that hostilities are continuing in southern Gaza, including the city of Rafah, despite Israel’s announcement of a pause in attacks. Philippe Lazzarini stressed that nothing has changed operationally so far.

Anti-Netanyahu protests

Israeli forces have clashed with protesters near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's house in al-Quds, as thousands rally against the regime’s handling of the Gaza onslaught. At least one person was wounded and nine others arrested. Israeli forces used water cannons to disperse the protesters. Demonstrators broke through barriers while chanting "Down with the tyrant!”. Another demonstration was also held outside the Knesset in the city.The protesters called for immediate elections and a ceasefire deal with the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas. The protests came after Netanyahu dissolved his wartime cabinet, which had been tasked with eliminating the Palestinian resistance.
