Iran has termed the Jenin refugee camp as a bastion of resistance, demanding immediate action to stop the Israeli massacre which claimed 10 Palestinian lives on Thursday.
“The Zionist regime’s ferocious assault on and massacre at the Jenin camp require the immediate action of the international community and Muslim countries against criminals,” Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian wrote in a post published on his Twitter page on Friday.
“Jenin has turned into a bastion of resistance, and there is no retreat in this regard.”
Earlier, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the brutal attack by Israeli military forces on Jenin refugee camp, which killed several Palestinians.
In a statement on Thursday, Nasser Kan’ani said the inaction and the deafening silence of relevant international organizations and so-called advocates of human rights in the West over the daily crimes committed by the Tel Aviv regime is painful and a cause for shame.
Kan’ani also called on Muslim states to adopt a united stance and act in defense of the oppressed Palestinian people and their legitimate resistance against the occupiers.
On Thursday, Israeli troops killed 10 Palestinians in one of the deadliest days in the occupied West Bank since Israeli raids intensified at the start of last year.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, nine of the Palestinians killed were in the Jenin refugee camp, after Israeli forces raided the area.
The other Palestinian, a 22-year-old man, was shot by Israeli forces in the town of al-Ram, north of Jerusalem.
In the Jenin raid, which Palestinians have described as a “massacre”, at least 20 others were wounded with live ammunition. Four of them were in critical condition.
