Iran has hosted an online conference on Iranian military commander martyr Qassem Soleimani.
It's the third edition of the annual conference on Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani. Dubbed General Soleimani and New Islamic Civilization, the conference was held online this time, with 50 scholars and political pundits giving speeches.
Soleimani was the chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force. He was assassinated in January 2020 in a US air raid outside Baghdad International Airport under the direct order of then-US president Donald Trump.
Iran and Iraq have set up a joint investigation committee to legally pursue the assassination. Based on the latest findings of the legal team, 120 people have been identified in connection with Soleimani's assassination, with Trump topping the list.
General Soleimani is globally recognized for his crucial role in the defeat of the Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group in Iraq in 2017. He also led major operations in Syria that led to the recapturing of key areas from the terrorist group. That's why his assassination is viewed as a huge loss for the region and a big win for the terrorists.
General Soleimani's assassination gave a clear clue about who is who in the fight against terrorism in the region. The US killed the nemesis of the Daesh and that puts Washington on the terrorists' team. In the meantime, Iran is firmly following up on the cause to bring the perpetrators to justice, saying this is to make sure that such incidents will never happen again.
