Israeli atrocity
Palestinians have buried a teen who was killed by Israeli forces in the northern West Bank city of Nablus on Wednesday. According to Palestinian officials, 16-year-old Said Odeh died after being shot in the back twice during an Israeli army raid. An ambulance was prevented for 15 minutes from accessing Odeh, who was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital. The Palestinian health ministry said two others were also wounded in Israeli gunfire, one of them critically. Israel has tightened restrictions on Palestinian worshipers in Jerusalem al-Quds since the start of Ramadan, sparking a hike in tensions across the occupied West Bank. Israeli forces have cracked down on protests against the curbs, leaving dozens of Palestinians injured.
Iran nuclear deal
Press TV has learnt that Iran will not accept new demands raised by the United States and the European signatories to the 2015 nuclear, also known as the JCPOA. The new American and European demands apparently include the destruction of Iran’s advanced centrifuges in return for the temporary suspension of some JCPOA-related sanctions. Sources say the demands are against the JCPOA that calls for the stockpiling of those centrifuges, including IR4, IR6 and IR9 under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Press TV has also learnt that there is a high probability the nuclear deal as well as the Vienna talks to revive the agreement will fail if the West insists on its excessive demands. Sources say the new demands come as Washington has so far failed to remove all JCPOA-related sanctions.
Tensions over Ukraine
In a joint press briefing with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country remains under Russia’s military threat despite its troop drawdown. Moscow and Kiev have been blaming each other for a spike in violence in Ukraine’s eastern region of Donbass. The region has been plagued by clashes between pro-Russian forces and Ukrainian troops since 2014.
