Pompeo censures appointments for incoming Biden administration
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has criticized President-elect Joe Biden for some of his cabinet picks.
“I know some of these folks, they took a very different view, they lived in a bit of a fantasy world,” Pompeo said in an interview with Fox News. “They led from behind, they appeased. I hope they will choose a different course.”
Biden selected Antony Blinken, one of his longtime advisers, to replace Pompeo after the Trump administration gave the green light for a transition through the General Services Administration.
“Today we began the process to see what GSA’s decision was and we’ll do everything that’s required by law,” Pompeo said. “We’ll make this work.”
The former CIA chief also denounced Biden’s pick for ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, over her remarks on the US return to “multilateralism” and “diplomacy.”
“I couldn’t tell exactly from her statement, but multilateralism for the sake of hanging out with your buddies at a cool cocktail party?” Pompeo said. “That’s not in the best interest of the United States of America.”
Long after his victory in the November 3 election, Biden could have access to federal resources and services, GSA Administrator Emily Murphy told him in a letter on Monday.
This is while, Trump has vowed to pursue his legal battles aimed at exposing election fraud but to no avail so far.
