With almost 100,000 children under the age of five at risk of dying, Yemen slides into a deeply dire situation.
The ongoing war and siege imposed by Saudi Arabia has brought a severe famine described by the United Nations as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
The UN’s former humanitarian coordinator for Yemen has described the food security statues as “catastrophic.”
A UN analysis shows the coronavirus pandemic, economic woes and the war have pushed malnutrition to the highest levels in some regions.
According to the UN study, malnutrition has risen 15 percent among children under the age of five this year.
Children of Yemen are likely to suffer more from starvation by the end of the year as the world grapples with the pandemic.
