Top seed Novak Djokovic has defeated Kyle Edmund 6-7, 6-3 6-4 6-2 after a slow start to keep his winning streak in 2020 and advance to the third round of the US Open in New York City.

Edmund took a tight opening set, laying down an ace to clinch the tiebreak 7-5. Djokovic restored order in the second set, grabbing nine of 11 points in the early going and sprinting to a 4-1 lead but struggled to close out the set.

Edmund rallied to cut the advantage to 5-4 before the three-time champion held for a 2-1 lead. When Djokovic broke to open the fourth, Edmund's last bit of resistance vanished and the Serb delivered an emphatic knockout punch to set up a third-round clash with Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff.
