The Hamas movement denounces Israel’s looming annexation plan in the occupied West Bank. In a press conference in Gaza, Hamas warned that Israel’s annexation plan constitutes real threat to the Palestinian national project.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has set July 1st for the start of cabinet discussions on extending Israeli sovereignty over illegal Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank and the Jordan Valley. Netanyahu’s decision is supported by US president Donald Trump. Hamas underlined that a unified and serious stance must be adopted to counter all conspiracies against the Palestinian people.
The annexation plan comes amid warming of relations between some Arab countries in the Persian Gulf region and Tel-Aviv. In an exclusive interview with Press TV, senior Hamas official Salah al-Bardaweel decried normalization of ties with the Israeli regime.
The West Bank, including Jerusalem al-Quds, is seen as occupied territory under international law, therefore making all Jewish settlements there and the planned annexation illegal.
Since early May, Israeli attacks and military maneuvers have been on the rise in residential areas within the Jordan Valley. Hamas reiterated that reinforcing resistance in the occupied West Bank is the best way to fight the annexation plan. Palestinians want the occupied West Bank as part of a future independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem al-Quds as its capital.
Israel’s annexation plan has been slammed by both Palestinians and the international community. The Hamas movement says it will fight the annexation plan and the so-called deal of the century with all forms of resistance.
