Iran begins Ten-Day Fajr celebrations of Islamic Revolution anniversary

Iranians from all walks of life began the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies all over the country to mark the 41st anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution which ended the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime.
A special ceremony was also held at Imam Khomeini's mausoleum in Tehran, with a host of senior state and military officials as well as thousands of people in attendance.
The festivities started at 9:33 a.m. local time, to symbolically mark the precise time of the return of Imam Khomeini from exile in Paris to Tehran on February 1, 1979. The anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution was also celebrated in different cities across the world.
Every year, Iranians mark the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution from February 1 to 11, known as the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies. The festivities will culminate in nationwide rallies on Tuesday, February 11, the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Imam Khomeini spent more than 14 years in exile, mostly in Iraq. He also spent some time in Turkey and France before his return to Iran. On the occasion of the anniversary of his return, similar ceremonies were also held across the nation.
