The Palestinian Authority announced Tuesday, The Day of Rage to demonstrate against US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's declaration that Israel's settlements in the West Bank do not contravene international law. The Palestinians’ rallied in the Gaza Strip in front of UN office, condemning this declaration.

Earlier on Monday, The United States backed Israel's right to build settlements on the West Bank by abandoning its four-decade stance that they were inconsistent with international law.

The announcement by Mike Pompeo was made for the benefit of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, who is struggling to stay in power after two inconclusive elections this year. The move was immediately slammed by Palestinians.

More than 600,000 Israelis currently live in settlements in the occupied West Bank. Some three million Palestinians also live there.

The recognition of Israeli settlements by the US has outraged Palestinians. People here say the international community should condemn such Israeli attempts to change the Palestinian identity of the occupied territories
