Andy Murray reaches European Open quarter-finals

The former world No. 1 Andy Murray has cruised into the quarter-finals of the European Open in the Belgian city of Antwerp, after defeating Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas in straight sets.

The Scot held his serve and eased to a 6-4 win in the opener, after breaking Cuevas in the 10th game. The 3-time Grand Slam champion, then carried the momentum into the 2nd set, taking it 6-3, to seal the victory in 84 minutes.

In the last 8, the Brit will take on Romania's Marius Copil, who hit 13 aces past third seeded Diego Schwartzman in a 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 win.

Murray, who is currently ranked 243rd in the world, is attempting to work his way back to full match fitness almost 10 months after a career-saving hip surgery.
