Roger Federer has reached his 12th Wimbledon final after a 3 sets to 1 victory over his arch-rival Rafael Nadal.
This was the pair’s 40th career meeting, as the Swiss maestro, who is looking for his 9th title at the Wimbledon Championship, was the stronger player in the opening set.
Despite many ups and down, Federer finished the tiebreaker 7-6, but Nadal fought back in the 2nd set and stunned him 6-1. The 20-time Grand Slam champion however, upped his play in the 3rd and overcame the Spaniard 6-3.
The 37-year old Swiss carried on with his slick technique in the 4th set and ended it 6-4 to wrap up the match after more than 3 hours.
With the victory, Federer set up a decisive final showdown against world number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic on Sunday at Centre Court.
