On July 28th 2017, Donald Trump’s administration imposed fresh sanctions on Iran.

The new sanctions were missile related in response to country’s launch of a satellite-carrying rocket into space a day earlier. Their claim: Iran’s rocket test was a breach of the Iran nuclear deal.

And prior to that the US House passed a sanctions bill against Iran, Russia and North Korea on a 419-3 vote, sending the legislation to the Senate. The senate ratified it in a 98-2 votes.

The measure won a veto-proof majority in both the House and the Senate. Although Trump is expected to sign this bill, it can go into effect with or without president Trump’s signature.
